First, what is CultureCon? In the words of Praytell’s very own, CultureCon is one of the greatest showcases of the Black cultural capital that drives our media, lifestyle, fashion and thought leadership. It’s a safe space for creatives of color to network and share their stories, featuring panels from household names, and experiences from brand innovators at the forefront of trends.
We sent some of Praytell's resident trendsetters, creators, and fashionistas to get a first-hand taste of what CultureCon has to offer. Here's an insider look at this year's conference.
Tips from Black professionals. We heard from a range of dynamic Black and POC professionals who covered topics ranging from career advice for emerging creatives to driving Black commerce in mainstream culture.
Careers are rarely linear. In a conversation with actress, vegan food influencer and motivational speaker, Tabitha Brown, and Gen-Z influencer DeAndre Brown a.k.a “The Corporate Baddie”, the speakers discussed the realities of being successful multi-hyphenates while remaining grounded. They suggested that careers are rarely linear, and success requires patience, grit and balance.
Know your audience. Stay true to yourself.In a panel with small business owner, Aysia Hillard, Aysia suggests that remaining true to herself and knowing her audience are two key ingredients for the current success of her TrapStix lip balm business. TrapStiz skyrocketed in sales after Aysia promoted it on TikTok during the pandemic.
Spirit of exchange. The spirit of exchange and communion didn’t end with panel discussions. The conference also featured interactive activations, and the opportunity to shop at the Small Business Market – supporting the goal of furthering economic empowerment and opportunity for all.
